Today I was also able to complete my article pages. I chose to incorporate the same border I used on the contents page in order to create a sense of cohesiveness. Furthermore, I made the background a pale blue color to match the sky in the first picture on the article, and chose to make the font black, since it's classic and simple. I made the article title a bigger font size than the actual article, as that's how most, if not all, magazine are. I also chose to make the name of the interviewee the largest to represent that she is the main point of discussion in the article. On the second page I chose a quote that Kailyn said and chose to enlarge and and place a picture next to it, similar to an article I saw in  InStyle magazine. This helps to draw attention to the importance of the quote, as well as show a picture of Kailyn dressed casually, which she explained during our interview is her favorite style. 

Today I completed my contents page. I chose to make the background a soft blush color to match the color of the text on the cover. I also decided to stick with the simplistic format for the contents as well, similar to magazine like Vogue, since that is the design I prefer. I also chose to make the page numbers bolder and in a different font, in order to distinguish them from the article title. I included another picture of my model, Kailyn, and placed it next to the section titled "On the Cover". I also inserted a picture of a highlighting makeup palette next to it's coordinating article, in order to reduce the amount of blank space. I chose to incorporate the section that displays the social media account (although they are fake), for the magazine in order to make it more applicable towards a younger reader, as well ad fill space that I was not using.

Today I completed my cover, which I am very happy with. I chose to make the picture of my model cover the entire page, and layer the text over it. I am choosing to stick with a simplistic design for my magazine, and that's the reason as to why there are no other pictures on the cover. The font was the same for the magazine title, and article titles, but I made the description of the cover article a different font to draw attention to it. Furthermore, I chose to make the page numbers a smaller font size, since the article title is more important.

Last Thursday, I took my friend downtown to three different locations and spent an hour at each one. I managed to capture several good pictures to use for my magazine. Also, I took pictures of products to be used on the contents page. I also included a picture of me holding the camera as a "behind the scenes" photo. All pictures were taken with my Canon Rebel t6 and I used a 50mm lens and a 350mm lens, and no pictures have been edited yet. Below are some of my best shots:

Today I contacted my friend who is an aspiring model, since we were not able to take pictures last week. However, she has told me that she is available this afternoon, so we are going to spend three hours-an hour at each location- and take photos for my magazine. I am sticking with the same locations: a coffee shop, roof top that is accessible by citizens, and side-streets that have beautiful scenery.

Today I decided to create a 90 page flat-plan for my magazine. I did this by using a template that I found online and inserting text boxes to write on top of it, and insert my own ideas. Moreover, I utilized a fashion magazine that I had available, in order to follow along with the placement of articles and advertisements (such as the cover story being located in the middle), which allowed me to create the most realistic flat-plan possible. Overall, I am pleases with how it turned out, and I believe that it appears authentic, but also contains original ideas.

Today in class, I have decided to develop question to ask my models after our photo-shoots. The questions include the following: 1. When did you become interested in fashion? 2. Do you think fashion is a tool for expression? 3. What is your go-to outfit? 4. Why do you think fashion is important? 5. What factors do you think your fashion sense is influenced by? (Ex. location, time of day, personal style) 6. What are your favorite fashion trends that have returned from past eras? 7. Who are your fashion icons?

My friend had to cancel our photo-shoot for Thursday 12/7/17 last minute, as something came up. However. it gave me more time to explore location downtown over the weekend. For example, I found a courtyard off of Main Street which had some nice greenery as a backdrop, as well as some intricate architecture. Furthermore, I found a nice restaurant which might act as a possible location, since it had a rustic setting with a modern twist, which would fit my magazine's mood. Also, I will be scheduling photo-shoots with my model (s) for either this Thursday or Saturday, or both.

Today, I also chose to create my template for the table of contents using Adobe In Design. I chose to keep my simplistic theme, as I want this magazine to be classic yet modern, and therefore chose to keep the font I had chosen for the cover, and use it for the title, "Contents" as well as the subtitles. However, I will use a different font for the explanations of the articles in order to create a sense of variety and create a more appealing effect. Moreover, I will place two pictures on the contents page, with the smaller and shorter picture under the word contents, with a larger and longer picture to the right of it. Also, I may add in other small pictures that correlate to the articles next to the article description. I chose to separate the contents page into the articles that are on the cover, the featured articles/second most important, and then others. Today, I created my template for the cover of my magazine using Adobe In Design. I chose a font that was classic but with a modern twist, in order to match the tone of the magazine and it's articles. Furthermore, based on my research, I found that the majority of the magazines placed the title at the top an centered, as well as bolded, so that is what I chose to do. Moreover, I decided the issue date will go in the top right, as that is the conventional location for it. Also, I chose to have one main picture take-up the majority of the cover and place it's description beneath the picture in a font size larger than the snippets of inside articles located around it. The color of the font will change based on the colors in the picture.  So, if the picture is dark, the font will be white, but if the picture is light the font will be dark. This will provide an eye-catching contrast that will attract the reader's attention.

Today, I scheduled a photoshoot for Thursday 12/7/17. I am going to take pictures of my friend in a few locations down town, as well as interview her as she is an aspiring model. I chose to go take pictures of her in a coffee house, on top of a parking garage, and infront of colored walls located near Main Street. For each separate locationg, she will be doing an outfit change to match the mood of the scene. For example, when taking pictures in the coffee house, I am asking her to wear an over-sized comfy sweater, and wear her hair in a bun or down, but not done perfectly. This will fit the laid-back vibes of a coffee house. For the top of the parking garage, I want her to be more 'edgy' to correspond to the rough textures and cool toned colorsa round her. After completing out photoshoots, I will interview her on what it's like to be an asipiring model, and why she is so passioante about fashion.

The last magazine that I researched, was the In Style   July 2017 issue. The cover is quite simplistic, as the only picture on the cover is Sarah Jessica Parker in a long flowing dress looking over a balcony. The associated article information reads, "Sarah Jessica Parker view from the top" and is in smaller black letters, which creates a pleasant contrast among the cream-colored background.  The font of the title, In Style , is very modern and bold, and is white on color. The articles included in this magazine included everything about beauty, such as makeup, hair, and fashion. Some example articles include: "Fashion and beauty right off the runway", "Off the chain! Alana Zimmer makes a case for layered necklaces", and "Beauty Talk". The main article featuring Sarah Jessica Parker is found in the middle of the magazine, and includes information about her favorite beauty items such as lip gloss and perfume, as well as her favorite leisure activit...

Today, I chose to research another People magazine issue, from December 2016. The cover features a portrait of Jackie Kennedy with John F. Kennedy is the background. The title of "People" is in bold pink letters and the word goes behind Jackie's head, but is still able to be read. The cover also reads, "Kennedy secrets: what Jackie really knew." Moreover, the cover includes multiple snapshots of other celebrities such as Florence Henderson and Kim and Kanye West, with tidbits of the article's information located beneath the picture. The font of the text on the cover is the same overall, but varies in size, boldness, and color. This magazine issue contains several different articles which revolve around celebrities and fashion. for example, there's an article about a celebrity getting married, but also a section about style trends with examples. There are multiple different types of advertisements. For example, there is an ad from Target showing their Chr...
